Eco Statement
The environment is everything to us, and eco-friendly practices are what we are all about!
Ingredients
Our ingredients are organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, raw, sustainably resourced, and cruelty-free. Colorants are oxides and micas; we are using up our naturally-sourced colorants and then switching to lab-created colorants in light of the often unethical sourcing of mica.
(Some ingredients, such as EWax, are not available as organic. Some ingredients are organic but refined, such as Sesame Oil, to reduce the natural stong odor. Exceptions are noted on specific product pages.)
Fragrances are sourced from large, reputable manufacturers, are phthalate-free, and are tested by and approved by the RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrance Materials). Lip balm flavors are organic.
Production
Production occurs at a private residence in small, loving batches. All production equipment is reusable. Empty containers are 100% recycled.
Packaging
We've ditched as much plastic as we possibly can. The only plastics remaining are lip balm containers, fragrance roller fittings and lids, and the clear gloss labels of the glass containers.
All other containers are cardboard tubing (biodegradable, compostable, and/or recyclable), glass jars and bottles with metal lids (reusable and/or recyclable), and metal tins (reusable and/or recyclable). Labels are brown kraft paper labels (biodegradable, compostable, and/or recyclable).
Our thick, sturdy glass jars are food grade and top-rack dishwasher safe! We reuse them for herbs, spices, stones, vases, planters, and more.
Shrink-wrap has been eliminated completely, and bath bombs are now wrapped in biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable brown kraft paper bags.
Shipping
Regarding shipping materials, we DO have a remaining supply of bubble mailers and plastic shipping tape that we will use up. Once they are gone, glass will be wrapped with recycled, compostable, biodegradable paper padding.
Box void fill is thick recycled paper, recycled crinkle-paper, or biodegradable starch packing peanuts.
Once the bubble mailers are used up, we will switch to paper-padded mailers.
